The race of the Italians to secure the talented Gabriel Barbosa, Gabigol for all. After the slowdown in the ongoing negotiations between Santos and the Inter-Juventus pair imposed by the player now engaged in the Rio Games, now in fact has come also the peremptory stance of Dorival junior, coach of the Brazilian club that, together with the Doyen fund and Gabigol’s father, holds the center forward’s card:

“If the transfer has to be made, to have less damage the strategy should be exactly the same as Palmeiras with Gabriel Jesus,” Dorival said. That is, Santos aims to keep the player on the staff until January, so as not to jeopardize the national title and cup race, just as Manchester City will do with Gabriel Jesus, snatched at the last minute from Inter’s own competition.

It’s hard to imagine that Gabigol, who is very attached to the club that launched him into great soccer, will object, so the Nerazzurri and Bianconeri seem to have to revise their immediate plans, maybe by targeting illustrious alternatives.

“There is no negotiation at the moment, proposals are there, but to my knowledge everything is at a standstill,” Dorival concluded.
