Michael Phelps is in the legend.

The ‘Baltimore Shark’ won his 22nd Olympic gold medal in the night by winning the 200 medley relay for the fourth consecutive Games. Despite the irrepressible joy of a memorable success, the ‘Cannibal’ also found room for a little self-criticism.

“I can’t believe it, it’s been an incredible career. Tonight, though, I would have loved to break the world record,” his words.

And after yet another success, the farewell announcement: “It’s a pain for my body, I’m tired, I have pain in my legs. To win four times in a row with the speaker saying I really did a great time: obviously it’s an incredible emotion for me and it’s something very special. I’m finishing the way I wanted to. I think in 2012 I wouldn’t have even imagined that. I was able to work hard and suffer in every single race and this is exactly the way I wanted to finish.”
