A kiss absolves Barber

A fling with a call girl can save a career. World pole vault champion Shawn Barber has been acquitted of the charge of having taken cocaine, the basis of the positivity that emerged shortly before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Barber, who was admitted anyway to the Giochs where, however, he finished only 10th, saw his defense argument based on the hypothesis of “accidental contamination” accepted by the Canadian chamber.

On July 8, in fact, on the eve of the Canadian championships in Edmonton, the athlete had had an encounter with a call girl, arranged through the Craiglist portal: unfortunately for Shawn, however, the woman had used cocaine, ingested by Barber during a kiss. That version was later confirmed by the girl herself.

“Barber is young and will treasure this experience,” the Canadian Athletics Federation’s comment
