Vincenzo Nibali landed in Japan together with his teammates of the Italian national cycling team. To Adnkronos, the Sicilian rider explained the team’s ambitions, “The goal is to get a medal.”

“Everything is still to be put on the field, but we are charged up, we will all try to give our best and as a team to get a medal, although it will not be very easy. I’m fine, everything is going as well as it can, according to the program we have drawn up.”

“For me it’s not the first Olympics so the excitement is a little different but there’s always that attention for such a big event. Armored Olympics? Unfortunately, yes. In our sport for a long time we have experienced this absence of spectators. Even at the Beijing Olympics anyway I remember that, being in a very touristy area, the road test was closed. We are used to it by now, we will do our best.”
