Amadio takes pressure off Ganna

After the world championships in Flanders, it’s time to take stock. Three golds and a bronze certainly represent a level haul for the national road cycling team. It’s up to Roberto Amadio, Italy’s team manager, to draw up a more in-depth analysis: “We closed a World Championship of great satisfaction, there’s no doubt about that. I base myself on the results, but also on the conduct, that is, how our athletes were able to interpret the races in all categories, including those who did not win medals. An important team spirit has emerged with results that give us great satisfaction starting with Elisa Balsamo, up to Filippo Baroncini and Filippo Ganna.”

Amadio makes a remark just about the Piedmontese: “Everyone takes it for granted that Ganna must always win, but that is not the case. Pippo gave an incredible performance with important opponents. The finishing order is regal with Wout Van Aert and Remco Evenepoel behind him. It means that he and the staff worked diligently and on all the details.”
