Cycling: Filippo Ganna takes back the scepter

Filippo Ganna returns to win the tricolor time trial title at the 2022 Italian Championships.
Filippo Ganna has won the Italian time trial title for the third time in his career: at the Italian Championships 2022, in the men’s elite event, the Ineos Grenadiers cyclist won on the 35, 6-kilometer course with start and finish in San Giovanni al Natisone with a time of 40’29″10.
The world champion, who is warming up for the Tour de France, averaged an unattainable 52.762 km/h for anyone. Mattia Cattaneo of Quick-Step finished 37 seconds behind, Edoardo Affini of Jumbo-Visma 50 seconds behind. Last season’s Italian champion Matteo Sobrero is fourth at nearly a minute, ahead of Filippo Baroncini.
