Lewis Hamilton: stunning new record, but F1 has nothing to do with it
Another record, different from the others but extremely commendable.
If his recent years of dominance in the turbo-hybrid era of Formula 1 have allowed him to rewrite the history books and the almanacs of statistics, Lewis Hamilton is indeed a champion in other areas as well. Starting with that of charity.
This was discovered by ‘The Times,’ which recently sifted through Charities Aid Foundation data, finding out who are the 100 British citizens who have given the most money to charity. Well, first among sportsmen (and fifth overall) is Lewis Hamilton himself.
The Mercedes driver boasts a personal fortune of about 300 million pounds, equivalent to 348 million euros. Of that, however, Hamilton has allocated about 20 million (or 23, for a calculation in euros) to charity in recent months. This is 6.68 percent of his total assets, which the seven-time world champion has invested in causes for the health, integration or job placement of disadvantaged young people.
