Remco Evenepoel finally tricolor
Remco Evenepoel exults
A new great satisfaction for Remco Evenepoel, who, fresh from his victory in the final time trial stage of the Tour of Switzerland, claimed the title of Belgian champion in the race against time. He did so in Gavere, the East Flanders municipality known for the cyclocross race it hosts each November. For the 22-year-old from Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl, it was the first tricolor after a bronze and a silver at previous participations.
Remco routed the competition, putting himself in full control of the race as early as the halfway point and setting a time that put an end to any discussion of who would win. The only rider able to exceed an average speed of 51 km/h, Remco finished the event in a time of 40’22” and claimed his tenth victory of a season that also saw him triumph at Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
