Gregorio Paltrinieri continues to fly in Hungary

Gregorio Paltrinieri continues to amaze in Hungary: after winning gold in the 1500 freestyle and bronze in the 4×1500 mixed relay, the Italian swimmer took silver in the 5-kilometer cross-country event at the World Open Water Swimming Championships in Budapest.

Super Greg finished second 4″ behind German gold medalist Wellbrock: “In open water I struggle with Florian Wellbrock, he has that extra cue. It was very difficult to pass him and if you don’t he has a tough final two hundred. We made selection there in the middle, we were pushing from the beginning, every tot the group would shell out. I was happy because I knew we were the only ones left. I’m sorry because it’s really tough with him. But it’s still a world silver, with all the strongest in the world.”

Now the goal is the 10 km: “Now a rest day and then we will try again in the 10 km.” The other Azzurro Acerenza finished in fourth place, behind Ukraine’s Romanchuk.
