Novak Djokovic dropped a set on grass in his debut at Wimbledon 2022. Snatching it from him was the tenacious South Korean Son-woo Kwon, who won 6-3 in the second set. The defending champion made the first (6-3), third (6-3) and fourth (6-4) and thus the match his own.
Of the last 20 editions of Wimbledon (in 2020 it was not played because of the Covid-19 pandemic) eight have been won by the Swiss Roger Federer, including five in a row between 2003 and 2007, and six by the Serb, who has been undefeated in London since 2018 and got the better of Matteo Berrettini in the final in 2021. Djokovic also won the first match on Wimbledon grass 3 sets to 1 last year, surrendering the first set to Draper.
