Aprilia, Massimo Rivola extols Aleix Espargaró (and inconveniences Valentino Rossi)
Important comparison after Assen comeback
Massimo Rivola, with ‘Il Giornale,’ took stock of the MotoGp season, which has reached its long break after the GP raced in Assen, extolling Aprilia’s main rider Aleix Espargaró.
“Aleix is a special rider, and even in Holland he proved it, making a Valentino Rossi-esque comeback,” Rivola said, discomforting the nine-time world champion for an important comparison, to say the least. I see him ready to fight for the title.”
Confidence is high and the championship balanced, so much so that for Rivola the challenge is not just between current leader Fabio Quartararo and his rider. “I expect a three-way fight between Fabio, Aleix and Bagnaia,” he explained, “but I don’t rule out Bastianini and Martin either. Also coming soon are tracks historically favorable to Ducati such as Austria, Silverstone, Aragon… and Philip Island for us.”
To win the rainbow laurel, however, it will be necessary to avoid mistakes like the one in Barcelona. A mistake that, however, Rivola considers “with much affection, because Aleix puts his heart before every obstacle. That oversight made him even stronger.”
