Marcell Jacobs, red alert: yet another forfeit
Marcell Jacobs has withdrawn from the 100-meter dash at the Diamond League in Stockholm
New trouble for Marcell Jacobs: the gold medalist in the 100 meters at Tokyo 2020 is stopped again, just days before the World Championships in Athletics, scheduled from July 15 in Eugene, Oregon. The Italian athlete was forced to withdraw from tonight’s Diamond League race in Stockholm due to discomfort in the hamstring of his left leg, at the level of the gluteus.
In agreement with coach Camossi, Jacobs decided not to force it and forfeited. For him it would have been the first competition abroad after wins in Savona and Rieti. His physical condition seemed totally recovered, now this new stop that complicates everything.
At the moment Eugene’s World Championship is confirmed, departure for Oregon is scheduled for Friday: but now the doubts about his condition increase dramatically.
