F1, chaos erupts between Alpine and Oscar Piastri
He was announced in Alonso’s place
Only a few hours have passed since the announcement of Oscar Piastri as the official driver of the Alpine team in Formula 1 in 2023, and already chaos has broken out.
In fact, the young Australian driver has denied in a tweet that he has signed with the team: “Without my agreement, Alpine F1 issued a press release late this afternoon in which it says that I will race for them next year – so Piastri – This is not correct and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not drive for Alpine next year.”
The denial from Piastri, champion in Formula 3 in 2020 and in Formula 2 in 2021, is therefore dry. Alpine had decided to announce him as Esteban Ocon’s next teammate after the news of Fernando Alonso’s move to Aston Martin starting in 2023.
Piastri, however, is not of the same opinion, so much so that at this point he may still be waiting in McLaren’s call to replace compatriot Daniel Ricciardo.
