A new long for Virtus
Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announced that it has acquired outright, from Stella Azzurra Roma, the rights to the sports performance of player Leo Menalo. Menalo has signed a four-year contract with Virtus Segafredo, until June 30, 2026.
Menalo was born in Split on Jan. 6, 2002. A 206-cm wing, Leo began his career in his homeland in the youth ranks of KK Cibona. A Croatian national, he earned his Italian training with already four years in our country, starting with the 2018/19 season with Stella Azzurra. After that he played for three consecutive seasons in A2, between Roseto and always the Stella Azzurra in Rome. In his last season in the capital he finished with an average of 5 points, almost 4 rebounds and 1 assist per contest in 16 minutes. Considered one of Europe’s Top prospects for those born in 2002, Leo is fresh from the Under-20 European Championships where, with the Croatia jersey, he traveled at an average of 14 with 4.4 rebounds, 62 percent from two-point range and 40 percent from three.
