Antonio Conte blurts out in press conference
Conte: “Why do I stay little in clubs? Lies don’t appeal to me.”
Tottenham coach Antonio Conte on the eve of his Premier League debut against Southampton gave a pyrotechnic press conference in which he brought up a few of his former clubs without ever naming them: “Why do I stay little at clubs? First of all I have to be well in the club, I always like honesty.”
“If you tell me something you have to respect it,” Conte continued, “I don’t like people who tell me one thing and then after one or two years they change the cards on the table, I don’t like that. I like honest people, who maybe tell me an ugly truth, but it has to be the truth, I don’t like nice lies. If you tell me a good lie with me you have a short life, I hate lies.”
“Definitely staying at a club for a long time is the best way to work,” explained the Salento coach. “If you stay for a long time, you bring continuity and ambition. It is the best situation for the club to grow and improve every season. We are trying to do things with common sense and I only know this way to try to improve the club.”
