Moto3, Ayumu Sasaki crash: Max Biaggi’s commentary
A bitter Sunday with the knowledge that a great danger was averted.
Max Biaggi commented on what happened to Ayumu Sasaki at the Moto3 British Grand Prix. The Japanese of the Sterilgarda team with three laps to go made a braking mistake in turn 13, running over world leader Sergio Garcia. A few minutes of apprehension after the impact and the inevitable fall of the two: the Japanese centaur was in fact immobile after the fall and was taken away on a stretcher.
“A rather bitter result today. We had a chance to do well with both riders, and unfortunately we only got John’s seventh place. Ayumu made a mistake and unfortunately this will affect the next race, as he will have to serve two Long Lap Penalties in Austria,” said Max Biaggi at the end of the day.
“It has to be said that Moto3 races always leave you with bated breath,” Biaggi added. Super compact group and lots of overtaking are routine. In addition, the characteristics of the circuit prevented the group from splitting up, so there were a lot of mistakes.”
