Matteo Berrettini explains the Montreal knockout without mincing words
“Perhaps the worst game of my career,” said the Roman.
Two sets lost in less than 80 minutes, only five games won: it is no coincidence that Matteo Berrettini has called the first-round knockout at the ATP 1000 tournament in Montreal “perhaps the worst match of my career.”
Speaking to ‘Ubitennis’ on the sidelines of the heavy defeat against Pablo Carreño Busta, Berrettini did not mince words: “There are good days and less good days, today really was a very bad day. Problems? None in particular, I simply did not find any aspect of my game that I could rely on.”
“I’m living a complicated year,” the Roman added, “I had to face many situations, and even if, in fact, I played very little, I spent a lot of nervous energy: today I felt really tired. Now I definitely need one-two days of rest, then we will figure out with my team whether to stay here or go straight to Cincinnati.”
