Serena Williams returns to winning ways after more than a year
Serena Williams’ victory
After more than a year, 430 days to be exact since her success at Roland Garros 2021 against Collins, Serena Williams has returned to winning a match on the Wta circuit.
The former world number one, on the day of Roger Federer’s 41st birthday, at the same age (but with an extra pregnancy behind her) won in the 32nd finals in Toronto over Spain’s Nuria Parrizas-Diaz with a fine 6-3 6-4.
The 23-time slam champion is now awaiting a certainly more hostile second round, probably against Belinda Bencic, favored against Tereza Martincova.
