F1 Ferrari, new driver on track at Monza: the announcement
Ferrari will make room for young Shwartzman in a free practice session at Monza.
Robert Shwartzman is ready to get a taste of Formula 1 again, behind the wheel of a Ferrari. The Russian-Israeli driver, a member of the Ferrari Academy since 2017, will most likely take to the track on the Italian Grand Prix weekend in Monza.
The Maranello-based team will allow him to drive the F1-75 in the first free practice session, sporting director Mekies announced: “I don’t think we will have any problems doing it during one of the weekends when there are Pirelli tests.”
Born in 1999, Shwartzman won the Formula Toyota championship in 2018 and the Formula 3 championship in 2019. He is the current Formula 2 runner-up. The 22-year-old driver had made his F1 debut last year during post-Abu Dhabi testing.
