F1 Ferrari: Carlos Sainz lapidary on tensions with Charles Leclerc
Carlos Sainz assures that the relationship with Charles Leclerc continues to be very positive: “Ferrari depends a lot on it.”
The time is approaching when Ferrari will have to make a choice of hierarchy between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, already clear instead in Red Bull with Max Verstappen certain first driver since the first Grands Prix of the season.
According to rumors coming out of the circus, the relationship between the Monegasque and the Spaniard is no longer going as well as before: rumors, however, immediately denied by the Iberian, who explained in an interview with the official Formula 1 website that it is precisely the good relationship with his teammate that is a strong point for Ferrari this season. “Charles is very strong in qualifying. He always does extremely good laps, from free practice to qualifying and always a very good reference to have in the team.”
“Charles is a great guy to get along with,” Sainz continued, “a guy I’ve really learned a lot from over the last few years and one I’m looking forward to having as a teammate in the future as well.
“I feel that we get along well and we have a good partnership,” Sainz insisted. “We spend a lot of time together, both in Maranello and on the track, and we normally have very similar views on many things. And apart from that, when it’s time to have fun, we can also have fun together and do sports and everything else. Not everything is super serious and the team depends on that.”
