Serie B: great start for Palermo and Cittadella, draw between Como and Cagliari
Saturday’s results in the cadet league
There was no shortage of surprises in Saturday’s matches of the first day of the Serie B championship.
At the ‘Barbera’, Palermo celebrated its return to the cadet division by beating Perugia 2-0, which had been left in 10 from the 23rd minute due to a direct red to Francesco Lisi. Matteo Brunori was the big star: first he put the Rosanero ahead on a penalty kick in the 25th minute, then he provided the assist for Salvatore Elia’s double in the 68th minute.
Goal feast instead at ‘Tombolato’, with Cittadella beating Pisa 4-3: Masucci’s lead in the 27th minute was not enough for the Tuscans, as Baldini made it 1-1 in the 38th minute. In the second half, Baldini himself missed a penalty in the 53rd minute, but made up for it with interest four minutes later, again sealing the Venetian lead from the penalty spot. The Nerazzurri lost their bearings and in the space of a few minutes took two more goals: the first was an own goal by Hermannsson in the 61st minute, and the second bore the signature of Asencio, again from the eleven meters. Goals by Sibilli in the 90′ and Canestrelli in the 98′ were of no use, except to increase the Tuscans’ regrets.
Finally, the challenge between the ambitious Como and Cagliari, freshly dropped from A, ends 1-1: Mancuso sends the hosts ahead in the 19th minute, Gaston Pereiro saves the islanders from the knockout with the flick that is worth the draw in the 93rd minute.
