Trouble for Diego Godin: the seasoned center-back, who landed at Vélez Sarsfield after a brief spell at Atletico Mineiro, is experiencing a few too many physical problems. The former Cagliari man is currently in the pits due to patellar tendinopathy.

Alexander Medina, DT of Vélez, reported, “Godin has patellar tendinitis. Now we have decided to stop him for a few days. He has had a relapse. The idea is to evaluate him next week and decide accordingly, we’ll see what the tests say.” Sport 890 reports.

It is not yet clear when he will be able to return to the field. “Soon we hope to have him available,” Medina continued. “Next week we will know if we can use him in the semifinals. Vélez will play the Copa Libertadores first leg semifinal against Flamengo next Wednesday at home. The return leg will be Sept. 6 in Brazil.
