Filippo Tortu bronze

Another bronze medal for Italy at the European Athletics Championships. It was won by Filippo Tortu, who in the 200 meters finished third in 20”27, even touching a comeback for silver in the final straight.

Gold went to Britain’s Zharnel Hughes with a time of 20″07, ahead of compatriot Mitchell-Blake (20″17), the one who had been defeated by the Italian himself in the final leg of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic 4×100. Fourth was another subject of her majesty, Dobson, who missed the appointment with a historic hat trick.

To emphasize the value of this podium, it is enough to think that this is the first Italian medal over this distance since Pietro Mennea.
