Valentino Rossi, Johann Zarco remembers crash: “After all the insults…”
The irony of Ducati’s French centaur Zarco, who recalls his near-accident with Valentino Rossi: “We could have named the chicane after me.”
The modification of the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand Prix is making the MotoGp world debate. Organizers, mindful of the horrific 2020 accident involving Johann Zarco and Franco Morbidelli, whose bikes almost hit Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales, have inserted a chicane between Turn 1 and Turn 3 to slow down the beasts.
Zarco after Friday’s free practice commented on the new chicane ironically, “After all the insults I’ve received they could at least name this esse after me,” said the French centaur, who two years was harshly criticized for his maneuver by Valentino Rossi (“He’s not capable”) and Morbidelli (“Half killer”).
Ironies aside, according to Zarco, the new corner will not favor the Yamaha: “It’s too slow and has an obligatory trajectory, I don’t think the Yamaha can benefit from it; on the contrary, it seems perfect for the Ducati’s strengths.”
