F1, Carlos Sainz head held high: “In Ferrari happy with me”

A positive balance after many difficulties.

Carlos Sainz takes stock of the first part of the 2022 season, characterized by an extremely difficult start that was followed by steady growth. The proof is the first victory of his career at Silverstone, but in general a growth in mutual trust with Ferrari.

“Especially at the beginning, this has been a roller-coaster season,” Sainz admitted in an interview for the official Formula 1 website. It was not easy with this Ferrari, given also the two retirements that soon ousted me from the fight for the world championship. Then I had peaks in Montreal and Silverstone, but I prefer a roller coaster of competitiveness like now over the one at the beginning of the championship.”

What Sainz wanted to make clear is that support for him from Ferrari has never been lacking. “There has been, and especially after Austria it was crucial. That Sunday was very heavy, and I know I struggled a lot at the beginning of the championship. But now everyone in the team is happy with my results and progress, and if I continue to be competitive the team will continue to be happy.”
