Morocco bench, decision on Walter Mazzarri arrives
The North African federation chose Walid Regragui, former coach of WAC Casablanca.
Reduced from his last, bitter experience on the bench of Cagliari – his exoneration came after losing seven of the last eight games – Walter Mazzarri dreamed of a place in the Asian World Cup in Qatar 2022. That’s right, because his name, in recent weeks, had been persistently approached to the Morocco bench, left vacant by Vahid Halilhodzic.
However, the agreement with the North African federation fell through because of disagreements over some details in the final stages of negotiations. Moroccan officials then turned decisively to Walid Regragui, former coach of WAC Casablanca, who will thus lead the ‘Lions of the Atlas’ in the World Cup: the debut in the competition is scheduled for November 23 against Croatia. According to the ‘Hesport’ portal, the Moroccan coach has already signed a three-year contract.
