F1, Stefano Domenicali unbalances on Ferrari and Charles Leclerc
Domenicali has no doubts about the potential of the Rossa
On the eve of the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix weekend, Circus number one Stefano Domenicali spoke about the prospects of the season finale related to the fight for the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships, explaining why he is not losing hope for a challenge until the last corner between Red Bull and Ferrari and, more specifically, between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.
“I hope for Ferrari’s comeback – are Domenicali’s words, reported by the ‘ Corriere della Sera’ – But you know, I’m biased, I look after the interests of F1. It would be a dream to relive a finale like the one in 2021 with two drivers fighting for the title on the last lap. Eighty points gap is a lot, but in F1 never say never.”
“This is also proven by my past,” added the F1 boss, recalling the 2007 season that led to what is so far the Rossa’s last success in the Drivers’ World Championship, that of Kimi Raikkonen. “Two GPs from the end we were 17 points behind (in an era when the scores were different and the winner of each race won 10 points, ed.) and then Raikkonen won. Red bull is strong, Mercedes will grow, but I don’t see why Ferrari shouldn’t fight until the end. I expect surprises.”
