Amedeo Tessitori takes Danilo Gallinari’s place

It’s official: Amedeo Tessitori takes Danilo Gallinari’s place. This was confirmed in a note published on the Federation’s website: “Amedeo Tessitori completes the Azzurro roster for EuroBasket 2022. Following the injury suffered by Danilo Gallinari in the game against Georgia, Gianmarco Pozzecco has recalled the Reyer Venezia center, who will be available to the coaching staff starting tomorrow.”

“Tex,” the CT said, “has earned on the court, as a player and as a man, to be the 13th Azzurro. Jokingly, it can be said that despite himself he will have to live this adventure with us! What happened to Danilo has also happened to me several times. I can understand his state of mind because for similar reasons I had to skip European and World Championships.”

The Azzurri will make their EuroBasket 2022 debut on Friday, September 2 against Estonia. Also in Italy’s group are Greece (Sept. 3), Ukraine (Sept. 5), Croatia (Sept. 6) and Great Britain (Sept. 8).
