Nick Kyrgios can’t take it anymore: ‘People don’t understand’
The life of a tennis player is not as easy as some might imagine: athletes are forced to make long and frequent trips to participate in various tournaments. Nick Kyrgios knows something about this, remarking in a press conference, “I’m exhausted, 99% of people don’t understand what it’s like to be on tour for so long, even though I don’t even travel as much as the rest of the Australians.”
“There are some who have gone 5-6 months without stopping. We have to keep traveling and we have no other choice. Of course I’m exhausted but I have no choice but to wake up and look for my best version; people don’t understand what I’m going through.”
Kyrgios at the US Open overcame his great friend Thanasi Kokkinakis: “It was one of the most complicated matches I’ve ever played in my career. We both had a game plan, we know each other very well, from the beginning we tried to block and play with the ball. I played very well in the first two sets from the back court, I tried to make him move as much as possible.”
