F1, Aston Martin: collective joy over the arrival of Fernando Alonso
Spaniard’s multi-year agreement with Aston Martin
Starting next season, Fernando Alonso will be Aston Martin’s lead driver. The Asturian will take the place of Sebastian Vettel, who announced his retirement from the Formula 1 circus at the end of the current season.
“At nine o’clock the e-mail arrived and two minutes later you couldn’t even hear your own voices for the celebration. The joy of everyone in the factory was tremendous. Fernando is reaching his best level. His determination is what we needed. He is a two-time world champion and will take us one step further, and that’s what we want,” Andrew Green, Aston Martin’s technical director, confides to AS.
