Fernando Alonso apologized to Lewis Hamilton
Fernando Alonso’s words
After Lewis Hamilton’s hot ones, Fernando Alonso’s apology for what happened at Spa also came a few days late.
“Do I have regrets for what I said on the radio? Yes, I apologize. I didn’t mean what I said, I don’t think he was so much to criticize, looking at the replays. This is a typical incident on the first lap, in which we are all together and close together. The tension and adrenaline of that moment, while I was fighting for second and third position, made me say those things, which I should not have said. I didn’t talk to Lewis, but I hope I can today. I will apologize to him, I have no problem with that and I have tremendous respect for him.”
“When you say something on the radio, you think you’re only talking to your engineer, of course I should have known it was going to be broadcast on the air, but it’s like when someone makes a hard slide in soccer. At that moment you say something to one of your teammates and it is not broadcast. Our time to talk to reporters is after the race, and I said what I thought after the race. On the radio I said something I didn’t think. From now I will try to be more quiet on the radio, not to become part of a certain kind of show that I don’t like. We are the only sport where communications are broadcast.”
