Valentino Rossi: Mauro Sanchini sees the turning point in MotoGp
Mauro Sanchini optimistic about post Valentino Rossi: “These guys must be given time, the appeal will increase.”
Mauro Sanchini, on the sidelines of the preview screening of the docufilm “Minimoto Revolution, La Genesi dei Campioni” held at the Cinema Fulgor in Rimini, spoke to the microphones of Sportal.it about the current MotoGp World Championship, the first without Valentino Rossi.
“It is undeniable that his absence is felt so much,” explained the Sky technical commentator. “This is year zero. He was a protagonist who filled the circuits for 26 years, he made motorcycling history together with Agostini. After 26 years you find yourself something different, he was a symbol. But you have to start again, the guys who are there now are going very strong.”
According to Sanchini, MotoGp’s appeal will soon rise again: “You have to give time to these guys, they will grow up to be protagonists. The fight for the world championship is good, and I am convinced that the last races will be a lot of fun.”
Quartararo remains the favorite, but Ducati has him in its sights: “The favorite remains Quartararo, he has a monstrous talent and a lot of points to spare. Such a strong rider with a bike that suits him well remains favorite. But it’s nice to dream, Pecco is continuing to win. Beyond who will win it, it’s nice that they are entertaining us, we have to rebuild the various characters and find the post Valentino Rossi.”
