Leao exaggerated: the derby is Milan’s
The first derby of the season ends 3-2 in Milan’s favor: scoring Leao (twice), Giroud, Brozovic and Dzeko. Solid performance by the Rossoneri despite some defensive blunders.
Inter got off to a strong start, passing through Brozovic in the 21st minute: Correa served the Croatian who, taking advantage of the disorganization of the Rossoneri’s rearguard, slotted in Maignan. Milan’s reaction was not long in coming and seven minutes later the game was back on even terms: Calhanoglu misses a crazy pass that is intercepted by Tonali, the Italian serves the Portuguese who from a defiladed position scores. Pioli’s band continued to push and gain meters but went to rest at 1-1.
The second half opened with Giroud’s goal in the 54th minute: Leao escaped on the left and served the French center forward, who turned and headed past Handanovic at the far post. Six minutes later the Diavolo drops the hat-trick again with Leao, who heroically defends the ball, buries three of Inter’s and signs his personal one-two. Inzaghi throws in Dzeko, who immediately repays him with a goal like a real bomber: Darmian gallops down the left lane, puts it in the middle, and the Bosnian swoops in like a bird of prey, flinging the ball into the net. Milan took the blow and Inter tried to take advantage but a super Maignan gave the Rossoneri the three points.
