Ferrari, Leclerc and Sainz wink at Vettel as Binotto’s successor
Leclerc and Sainz wink at Vettel
Ferrari’s two drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, interviewed in the Netherlands by Viaplay, opened a surprising possibility for Sebastian Vettel’s future.
Indeed, the four-time world champion face with Red Bull, now an Aston Martin driver, has announced his retirement from racing at the end of the 2022 season.
The Monegasque and the Spaniard were asked who, among their teammates, might, in the future, occupy a team principal role, and both Prancing Horse drivers answered without hesitation.
“Sebastian” immediately answered Sainz, without a second thought. He was closely followed by teammate Leclerc, who admitted, “I was thinking the same thing.”
There are still seven races to go until the end of the championship, but it seems that the German legend’s future may already be addressed, given the great conviction of his colleagues.
