Milan, Stefano Pioli explains what has been missing
Pioli explains the draw with Salzburg
AC Milan coach Stefano pioli spoke in a press conference after the 1-1 draw in the Rossoneri’s Champions League opener against Salzburg.
“It’s a good result, we didn’t perform at a high level unfortunately. They started better than us, then we grew. We could have done better, we still bring home a positive result even though we wanted to win. The boys are the first to know when we play well and when we don’t. In the beginning we didn’t do well on second balls. We lacked a bit of lucidity on technical plays. We had to be faster in setting up, we had to find better solutions. The team needed to be more compact so we could recover more second balls,” explained the Italian champion coach, pointing out what his men lacked.
Pioli went on to explain the importance of the changes, especially in a season like this, “They came in well. Dest has just arrived, he still has to know our game. However, he has good qualities. Origi had a difficult summer, he needs to play and get minutes. Pobega put in his characteristics, that is, physicality and insertion. I am satisfied, with so many games we need everyone.”
