Verdi: “The problem was not Juric.”
Former Torino striker Verdi, now at Verona: “I wanted to feel alive again.”
Verona striker Simone Verdi, on loan from Torino, spoke about his farewell to the Granata at his press conference to introduce himself as a new Hellas player: “Juric has nothing to do with it, I never had any problems with him, we always got along. He is a particular person, but if he has something to tell you he says it to your face.”
“Last year I had a few injuries,” Verdi continued, “and I preferred to go and get back into the game at Salerno, because I needed to feel alive and feel myself again as a player. This summer we had shared that I could no longer stay in Turin: there were a series of complications, but not from a contractual point of view, because I was well aware that mine was a heavy contract and I had given my willingness to reduce my salary. Torino was asking for money on the tag, and having one year left on my contract many clubs were not willing to pay it, so it was decided to renew the contract to allow the club to sell me on loan with the right of redemption.”
