Matteo Berrettini sends a message to Carlos Alcaraz. “He is an extraordinary athlete, with crazy talents,” he tells Gazzetta dello Sport. “However, I would like to remind you that Jannik had match points against Carlos and already beat him as I have already beaten him and also Musetti. Surely facing him again in Davis would be the best ending, a fiery cross between great players.”

“They are incredible and have crazy energy,” adds Berrettini. “Me being used to individual sports, I asked them to explain their secrets and give me some advice to take to the Davis locker room. The heart of the Poz moved me.”

Berrettini is fresh from the quarterfinals he reached at the US Open: the Roman tennis player was defeated by Norwegian Casper Ruud, then made it to the final, where it was Alcaraz himself who triumphed.
