Fontecchio as Osman: the incredible coincidence

The coincidence of a series of factors affecting, during the European basketball championships, first Cedi Osman, during the round of 16 of Turkey-France, and then Simone Fontecchio, in the quarterfinals of Italy-France, is truly incredible. Both players, in fact, fell victim to the same mistake (two missed free throws), which occurred in the same scoring situation (77-75 in their favor), in the final seconds of their respective matches. France, on the brink of the abyss on both occasions, thus saved themselves, sealed the tie and then won in overtime.

But the coincidences do not end there. In fact, all four games in the Eurobasket round of 16 ended with almost the same score. Poland beat Ukraine 94-86, the same score by which Finland defeated Croatia and Italy beat Serbia. In the last game of the day, Greece and the Czech Republic ‘spoiled’ the score, with the Greeks winning 94-88.
