Davis Cup, Matteo Berrettini explains tactical turnaround
“To save my strength and shorten the exchanges, I went to the net several times,” explained Berrettini
Matteo Berrettini commented with satisfaction on his victory against Sebastian Baez in the first match of the Davis Cup clash between Italy and Argentina.
The Roman tennis player won cleanly: “I am happy with the performance and to be able to enjoy this atmosphere. The plan for this match was to be aggressive and impose my game. I succeeded and this obviously satisfies me.”
Berrettini, in order to conserve energy, often went to the net to shorten the exchanges, “This is something I will have to do more and more, although it comes more naturally to me to exchange from the back. However, for the physical characteristics I have, especially on these courts, it is something to do.”
