Italy-Argentina ends 2-1: Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini knockout in doubles
The challenge between Italy and Argentina ends 2-1
Italy does not succeed in its second consecutive ‘overcoat’ in Group A of the 2022 Davis Cup Finals: after Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner’s successes against Sebastian Baez and Francisco Cerundolo, the doubles composed of Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini is forced to surrender to the Albiceleste doubles composed of Maximo Gonzalez and Horacio Zeballos.
At the Unipol Arena in Bologna, it ended 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 in favor of the Argentines, who thus snatched a point from the Azzurri at the end of a hard-fought match that lasted two hours and twenty-four minutes. The biggest regret is related to a lost break point in the seventh game of the third set, on the score of 3-3: in the next game the Argentines instead managed to make the break, flying towards the final success.
Now there is only one ‘tie’ left, for Italy, to complete the round: appointment for Sunday, September 18 against Sweden, against which Italy will play for the first place in Group A.
