Inter, Simone Inzaghi makes mea culpa
Simone Inzaghi’s disappointment
Simone Inzaghi, in the post-match press conference of Uinese-Inter, explained the changes not hiding his disappointment after the ugly defeat against the Bianconeri team.
The Nerazzurri coach commented on the substitutions, “Bastoni and Mkhitaryan out? I took them off because they were cautioned and Udinese were winning all the second balls. We were in trouble and I was thinking of a shock. I was afraid of being a man down for a late entry. They paid Bastoni and Mkhitaryan but they should have paid everyone.”
The Inter coach did not hide his disappointment at the lack of reaction from his men: “This is not good. At the level of badness we had to know what Udinese we would find and we had to do better and more. We can’t give continuity and unfortunately it’s three consecutive away matches where we go ahead and lose. The main culprit is me.”
Finally, Inzaghi focused on the defensive phase: “We have to put more attention and determination because second balls have to be won, you are lucky to unlock the result after 4′ and after that you cannot play a first half like that. It should have been handled differently, Udinese was more determined. We have to meditate because it is a defeat that hurts.”
