Matteo Berrettini has been selected as a reserve for Team Europe for the 2022 Laver Cup (Sept. 23-25). This means that the Roman tennis player who had already represented the European lineup in the last edition in Boston 2021 will be called upon in case of injury or forfeit by one of the starters.

Berrettini will be part as a “luxury benchwarmer” of Team Europe led by captain Bjorn Borg and formed by Roger Federer (on his last outing before his farewell to tennis), Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The reserve for Team World instead will be Tommy Paul, ready to play if one of Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Jack Sock, Diego Schwartzman, John Isner and Alex De Minaur retires.
