F1, Ferrari: Mattia Binotto doesn’t hide on Robert Schwartzman’s future
Binotto doesn’t hide about Ferrari Driver Academy member driver
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto, interviewed by the microphones of Autosport.com, opened up about the future of the young Russian driver, Robert Schwartzman, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
“Robert is a fantastic driver, he is very fast, especially in a Formula 1 car. There are drivers who are great in Formula 3 or Formula 2, but not good enough for Formula 1. He is the opposite: he was already great in F3 and F2, but he is very, very strong in F1. So it’s a pity that he doesn’t have a seat at the moment. He has grown as a driver, he is much more mature than he was a year ago. He deserves a seat. We know it’s a very difficult situation now, but hopefully it will come in the future,” said the Maranello stable manager about the 1999 class.
At the moment there is no certainty that there could be a chance in F1 as early as next season for Schwartzman. However, the most plausible possibility remains Haas, should Mick Schumacher not be reappointed.
