Mancini raises alarm: “Italy, the strikers have disappeared.”
Azzurri coach Mancini: “It’s a big problem, it’s anomalous that there are so many foreigners in A. The only starter is Immobile.”
Italian national team technical commissioner Roberto Mancini returns to issue a cry of alarm about the state of the Azzurri movement. The coach from Jesolo is concerned above all about the shortage of Italian strikers: “The only one who has been playing as a starter for a long time is Immobile, otherwise it is anomalous that there are so many foreign strikers in Serie A… The big teams have been thinking like this for some time, but I hope it is not an irreversible process and that soon 2-3 strikers can come out for Italy’s future. It’s a big problem.”
For the Nations League challenges against England and Hungary, the Azzurri coach has called up Cancellieri, Gnonto, Grifo, Immobile, Politano, Raspadori, Scamacca and Zerbin in attack. Outside Insigne because of personal problems: “I would have summoned him without that serious family problem.”
