Carlos Alcaraz pushes away comparisons with Federer, Nadal and Djokovic
The new Atp No. 1 pushes away comparisons with the ‘Big Three’
Carlos Alcaraz, fresh US Open winner and new Atp No. 1, spoke to the media in attendance at a BMW event.
The class of 2003 wanted to push away comparisons with the ‘Big Three’: Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
“I don’t know why they compare me to the ‘Big Three.’ They are legends and have won everything, I’m just starting out. This makes no sense, I just have to improve and work to get closer to those levels. Tennis is always evolving, there are always new things and I’m always working to improve,” stressed the Spanish racquet phenomenon.
Then Alcaraz said a few words about Roger Federer’s impending retirement, “The impressive thing is that he played so much before he retired, I’m just starting out. As an athlete he was a gift to all sports fans, not just tennis fans. I would have liked to face him, unfortunately it will not be possible.”
