Jose Mourinho puffs up his chest, “I don’t want to change.”
The Special One returned to last Sunday’s protests, which cost him a red and disqualification
Those who thought time had changed him, that it had smoothed out some of his character sides — some deliberately accentuated because they are children of character — may not yet have gotten to know Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese coach, who on Tuesday celebrated 22 years of his coaching career, returned to his noisy sending-off suffered during the second half of the match — then lost — against Atalanta.
Speaking at the Portuguese “Quinas de Ouro” gala, organized by the Lusitanian Football Federation, the Special One wanted to remind everyone that he remained the same as ever: “22 years have passed quickly, but I want to continue. I feel good, I feel strong, motivated, I like winning, I hate losing, nothing has changed. The color of my hair, yes, even the wrinkles, but I am ready to continue. Not for another 22 years, that there is no time, but for a few more years,” he began.
“Now that I am celebrating 22 years as a coach, the expulsion is nothing new for me, maybe it reflects the way I am. I don’t want it to change. Last season we did what no one expected, this year we will try to do better. We don’t have the same economic potential as our rivals: we made a seven million euro market. But we have quality, passion, many people who like to work together, which is an important thing. Then at the end of the season we will see,” he concluded.
