Maignan, injury more serious than expected: Milan’s decision
Maignan will have to be out for three weeks.
Mike Maignan forced to sit out for three weeks: the AC Milan goalkeeper’s calf injury, sustained during Thursday night’s Nations League match between France and Austria, will keep the Rossoneri’s goalkeeper out of action until mid-October.
The player left the French national team’s training camp and will be examined by Milan’s medical staff: he is expected to miss not only Empoli but also Chelsea in the Champions League and Juventus in the league.
According to reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan plans to temporarily remove the goalkeeper from the Champions list to replace him with Tatarusanu. In fact, the regulations allow that if there is a prognosis of 30 days or more, the goalkeeper can be replaced if only two are on the A list (Maignan and Mirante). Maignan would then return on October 25, for the match with Dinamo Zagreb.
