F1, Lewis Hamilton spills the beans: important words on Charles Leclerc
A strong and definitely important opinion addressed to a rival on the launching pad.
Lewis Hamilton for the first time since back in 2013 is experiencing a Formula 1 season in which he is not in contention for the title, allowing him to analyze the balance in the Circus calmly and detachedly. And among the colleagues the Mercedes driver is keeping an eye on are Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris, with the Ferrari driver in particular held in high esteem by the seven-time world champion.
“The younger guys are very talented, and there are others coming up who are just as talented,” Hamilton admitted in an interview with ‘Racer.’ “I remember when I was me in my early days, and I thought I could beat everybody. So I know how they feel, because it was the same for me. And now I’m trying to improve my relationship with them a little bit at a time. I want to be supportive of them.”
Prominent among the “them” in question, as mentioned, is Charles Leclerc. “Seeing him at work, and seeing him start to do well consistently, fills me with enthusiasm. And the same goes for Lando,” Hamilton explained. “These guys are really excellent, and they never stop. Plus they are great people.”
But Hamilton was also clear about the pressures involved in racing for a team like Ferrari: “I know how hard it can be inside such teams. Then when you’re in your 20s, you still don’t know exactly what you can say or not say. You only have pure strength, talent and skill. And you have to rely on those.”
