A different day for Allianz Powervolley Milan

Allianz and Allianz Powervolley Milan today unveiled the new face of the 2022/2023 team at the Allianz Tower, headquarters of the insurance-financial group that is Title Sponsor of the men’s volleyball team in Milan.

The official presentation took place on the 47th floor of the Allianz Tower, in the presence of the press and partners/sponsors, with speeches by Sports Club President Lucio Fusaro, accompanied by the full team, Coach Roberto Piazza and Allianz S.p.A. General Manager Maurizio Devescovi.

Distinguished speakers and guests representing the area’s political and sports institutions: Martina Riva, Sports Councillor for the City of Milan; Marco Riva, President of the CONI Lombardy Regional Committee; Piero Cezza, President of FIPAV Lombardy; Massimo Achini, President of CSI; and Lorenzo Lamperti, General Manager of Milanosport. Exceptional moderators for such a rich parterre of guests were the two distinguishable voices of Radio LatteMiele, the radio partner of the Milan society, Anna Patti and Andrea d’Agostino.

The partnership agreement between Allianz and Powervolley Milano dates back to June 2019, finding confirmation in this years’ partnership for the next three seasons as well. Speaking at the presentation of the team, Lucio Fusaro, president of Allianz Powervolley Milano, stressed, “This season’s team was built with the aim of improving the already very good results of last season. We have tried to give the coaching staff a group with a higher average value, with a longer bench to make more rotations and make up for any injuries without paying too much for them; therefore, it is natural to think that the will and the desire are to improve compared to last season, obviously comparing ourselves with many teams that have strengthened themselves with really important economic investments. The hard core of our team has remained, I would think that our players have improved, then the field will speak. This year we won’t have midweek shifts, so we will have a chance to prepare week by week for each individual match. The goal is the usual quality of Milan, which makes excellent shots every year: our idea is to place ourselves among the top teams. We will have to be good at engaging the public; we are very pleased with the season ticket campaign. Whenever people ask me for predictions, I remember where we were just a year ago: when we were still afraid to go to see a game, we had a quota audience, a situation that did not allow us to see the way out yet clearly. Now let’s say we are almost back to normal, it will be the first real year 100% on Milan, it will be our job to make the audience fall in love and bring them to the Allianz Cloud.”

Maurizio Devescovi, General Manager of Allianz S.p.A. commented, “In Powervolley Milano we have found a partner that knows how to combine culture of sports talent and social sensitivity. Right from the start we found passion and competitive ability in the company, not only in the first team but also in the youth sector, a hotbed of talent at the national and international level. We are proud to have realized moments of awareness on the issue of disabilities, always dear to Allianz, with the Volley4All project developed together with our Allianz UMANA MENTE Foundation. Today a new sports season kicks off and I wish Allianz Powervolley Milano a successful championship.”

Allianz has supported Powervolley Milano in developing projects in the city and connecting the achievement of important sports results to the creation of initiatives and events charged with social responsibility. A union of intentions that has at its foundation key values that can generate a unique reality in a city like Milan. The central fulcrum is the Volley4All project, the philanthropic vision of Allianz and the UMANA MENTE Foundation, which alongside Powervolley Milano aims to combine ambition for sports results with the ever-present focus on socially-minded initiatives and events. At the center is the awareness of spectators and citizenship toward the promotion of sports as a means of transmitting an inclusive sports culture capable of valuing diversity and promoting socialization and team spirit, with the participation of young athletes with disabilities and established parathletes. In spite of the pandemic, in fact, Volley4All immediately established itself as an extraordinarily important initiative, continuing the path undertaken in the 2021/22 season and which it will also restart in the season that is about to begin.

The event in the Allianz Tower, which saw the full team present, with players and technical staff, was also an opportunity to present both the new Allianz Powervolley Milano game jersey with official technical partner Errea, and the results of the youth teams of the Powervolley Devils, which are confirmed year after year as one of the most flourishing sectors of the peninsula, among them the Italian Under 15 and Junior League Champions were awarded, represented by the two captains and their respective coaches.
