5-7 6-4 6-2 the score in favor of Paolini

After witnessing the victory of Elisabetta Cocciaretto, who defeated Spain’s Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in two sets in her round of 16 match at the WTA tournament in Parma, there was anticipation for the match of Jasmine Paolini, who in case of victory would join the Ancona-based tennis player for an all-Ancona derby in the next round.

Mission accomplished for the Tuscan athlete, who, however, struggled more than expected to get the better of Germany’s Jule Niemeier, who had put the first partial in the bag with a score of 7-5. Paolini’s reaction was excellent in the second set, won 6-4, a prelude to the third and decisive set in which, without uncertainty, the Italian ruled with a comfortable 6-2 over her opponent.

Appointment to Wednesday, then, for the long-awaited derby between the two Azzurre: up for grabs is a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament on the clay of Emilia.
